NORTHSHORE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 2017-2018 ARRIVAL PLAN  Kindergarten through 8th Grade
Welcome to Northshore Christian Academy!  We are so glad you are a part of our school family this year. Our goal is to have a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal plan so we can manage traffic in an effective manner. In order to do this,  we need your help .

We ask that you remain very patient during the first few weeks of school.  We have a very efficient system in place, but need a few weeks for our staff to learn to identify parents who are picking up students, and train parents who are new to NCA about this process.  The first few weeks of school, the process will be slow .  We will be doing all we can do to make sure your child(ren) arrive to school safely.

Car Pools:

SIBLINGS: Do you have elementary children at various dismissal spots?
1. Kindergarten - 5th grade siblings will gather at the youngest child’s dismissal location. (See map)
2. If you carpool with other families, check with the dismissal supervisor for exact pick up location for your group.

Do you have middle school and elementary children?
If your 6-8th grader has siblings in K-5, you need to go to two locations for pick-up:  your youngest child’s pick up area and your 6-8 grade child’s location at the later time of 3:25. There are two options for you to pick up siblings before the Middle School is dismissed:
1. Park in the parking lot and walk to the youngest sibling’s dismissal location. Pick your child up and then pick up your middle school student at 3:25.
-OR-
2. Drive to both elementary and middle school dismissal areas. This will require you to go through the dismissal line twice once for the elementary student and again for the middle school student.  ( If sibling s are not picked up by the dismissal end times – noted above , they will be taken to Extended Care and you will be charged)

SIBLINGS/CARPOOLS If you have children who will be dismissed from more than one dismissal area, we have established the following procedure to allow your family to meet at one designated area.

Kindergarten – 5th Grade:  K-5th grade siblings will meet and be dismissed from the youngest student’s dismissal location.  An NCA staff member may escort students to the proper dismissal location. Siblings of Middle School Students:  Siblings of middle school students will remain with their teachers at their normal dismissal area.

Students in K-5th grade will not be taken to the middle school dismissal areas. Parents/carpools must pick up K-5 students before middle school students are dismissed. Depending upon the situation, it may be necessary for a parent/carpool to make more than one trip through the dismissal lines – once around to pick up an elementary student and then again to rejoin the line for a middle school student.  Parking and walking to dismissal locations is also an option.

Extended Care

TIME OF EXTENDED CARE: K-5 students – 3:25pm – K-5 grade students who have not be picked up will be taken to Extended Care:
Grades 6-8 – 3:40pm – 6-8 grade students who have not been picked up will be taken to Extended Care.

Extended Care Fees:  Students, who have not been picked up from their dismissal area by the area’s end time, will be checked into Extended Care.  A first hour $7.00 drop-in fee will be assessed at 3:25pm for K-5th and at 3:45pm for Middle School students.  After the first hour, $3.00 will be charged per ½ hour.  Fees and check in times are non-negotiable.  The Extended Care pickup area is in the Cascade Pavilion.  When picking up your child, you may park in the right lane for a maximum of 5 minutes.  Students will be in the Cascade Pavilion or outside on the playground

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Dismissal Authorization Form:  If someone not listed on your dismissal authorization form is picking up your child, you must notify NCA.  You may send a note or an email to your child’s teacher or call the front desk by 2:45 PM. The person picking up your student will be required to show proper ID to our staff.

Note:  It is unnecessary to add names to your Dismissal Authorization forms if this is a one-time or occasional event.
It is critical for our teachers and staff to focus on their role, supervising students during this busy time. Therefore, we ask that parents refrain from talking to staff during dismissal.

Dogs and pets may not be brought on our campus even if just for arrival and dismissal due to the Health Department regulations for schools.
